Involve Lions in Your Program

As you look for avenues to support and strengthen your Lions Quest program, consider involving local Lions. Following are some ways in which Lions may contribute:

  • Funding Support

Lions may be able to help underwrite the costs associated with training new facilitators and support staff, as well as the cost of curriculum and student materials. In addition to being experienced fundraisers, Lions are also eligible for special grants through Lions Clubs International Foundation to fund Lions Quest programming.

  • Service-Learning Partners

The Lions motto is “We Serve.” Lions are excellent service partners who can bring funding, community connections, and professional experience to a service project.

  • Program Awareness

Lions can help increase the visibility of your program by promoting it through Lion newsletters, meetings, and other social and professional networks.

  • Presentation Support

Lions are community leaders who can add credibility and support to presentations to school boards, parents, and other key stakeholders. This show of community support is an asset when schools or districts consider adopting or expanding programs.

  • Lions Quest Family Meetings

Lions Quest curricula contain guides for involving families and caregivers through family meetings. Lions can help inform family members about the mission of Lions, their commitment to positive youth development, and their local service projects. Qualified Lions may be able to help organize or facilitate the meetings.

  • Lions Quest Advisory Team

Consider adding a Lion to your program Advisory Team. Lions can help organize service projects, facilitate school-community collaboration, seek external funding from Lions and the local business community, and link the program with agencies and resources.

Keeping Lions Involved

Lions are proud of their success in promoting Lions Quest programs around the world, and they appreciate it when local communities recognize their contributions. Following are some ways to show your appreciation and support.

  • Send a Thank-You Note

A note can be sent by staff or—even better—by students using the program.

  • Provide Program Updates

Keep Lions posted on your program plans, your service projects, and the impact the program is having on students and their families. Open communication will allow Lions to share in your success, and it keeps them invested in your program.

  • Invite Lions to Your School

Make Lions feel welcomed, valued, and connected to your school by giving them an opportunity to see the program working. Consider hosting a Lions appreciation day or inviting Lions to participate in career fairs or service days.

  • Recognize Lions in Your PR Efforts and School Publications

Everyone loves a good story, and there are few better than the community coming together for the benefit of young people. Recognize Lions in your publications, alert the media prior to workshops or special Lions Quest events, and consider having student journalists write a story for the school newspaper.
  • Make a Presentation at a Lions Club

Request an opportunity to speak at a club meeting to tell Lions how the program is working and what you need to sustain the program. Bring students or family members along to make the message even stronger.
